Physical Education

YEAR 7 We aim to offer a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. Physical Education lessons provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect. There are plenty of extra-curricular clubs on offer to supplement the opportunities presented in lessons.

YEAR 8 Students build upon the skills learnt in Year 7 and in addition they complete a module in Outdoor and Adventurous Activities based at school. The students develop their Physical Literacy through a variety of sports and activities and are encouraged to develop this at lunchtimes and after school as part of the extra-curricular programme.

YEAR 9 Students build upon the previous skills and techniques learnt in Year 7 and 8 and start to develop a detailed knowledge of why physical activity is an important part of their healthy and active lifestyle. They do this through a module in Fitness that includes some classroom taught content and gives them the skills to develop their own fitness programmes.
