We are delighted to share with you the Ofsted report following our inspection in June/July 2026. Inspectors stated that ‘Pupils thrive in an inclusive ethos at Boroughbridge High School.’, recognising the significant, sustained improvements which have taken place in recent years. We are very proud of the transformation of our school and that it was recognised that ‘There is a positive culture in the school. Pupils are respectful and courteous with staff and with their peers.’ and that ‘Leaders have high expectations for pupils.’

The inspection was carried out under Ofsted’s new inspection framework which no longer gives schools a single overall judgement. Instead inspections assess schools across six areas. For all of these six areas, Boroughbridge High School was judged to be meeting the ‘expected standard’. A judgement of ‘expected standard’ means that a school is meeting the high standard expected nationally across all areas. It confirms that students are receiving everything they need and deserve. You’ll see that these are shown as green circles on the report. We also meet the safeguarding standards, there is ‘an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and concerns are actively identified, acted upon and managed. As a result, pupils are made safer and feel safe.’

The Ofsted inspectors recognised that we have been doing the right things for positive impact and we are determined to continue to improve for the benefit of our students. The report clearly outlines our next steps which, reassuringly, reflect areas identified by leaders for further development. We look forward to working with you on the next part of our journey.
