We’ve had a fantastic first week of the Autumn term. It was great to welcome students back into school on Tuesday and lovely to hear staff and students share stories of their Summer break and adventures. As usual, uniform standards were high with everyone quickly getting back into routine. I enjoyed meeting each of our students in Expectations Assemblies which also became an opportunity for us to celebrate our successful Summer GCSE and BTEC results and reflect on our successful 2025-2026 academic year at Boroughbridge High School. We’ve also welcomed our new Year 7 cohort who are already settling in well and making a positive contribution to our school community. Thank you for your support in helping us to have this positive start.
Over the Summer, Jake in Year 10 showed remarkable commitment by taking part in the Backyard Ultra Marathon. This involved him running 4.16 miles on the hour, every hour, for as many miles as possible. His brother and sister ran some of the legs with him to support and encourage him with Mr. Field joining him for one leg too. Jake managed to complete an amazing 50 miles in 12 hours and in the process raised £1600 for Dementia UK. A very proud moment indeed and a great demonstration of ambition and resilience. Well done, Jake.
In assemblies this week, Mrs. Godsell-Wright has been getting the year off to a good start with a focus on our values; that we are ambitious, respectful and resilient, asking students to really think about what they mean and the difference that they make to us in being the best version of ourselves.
We’re coming towards our Year 5 and 6 Open Evening on Wednesday 7th October and yesterday we had great fun being filmed for a video to capture everyday life at Boroughbridge High School.

Next week, it’s our Expectations Evenings from 6-7p.m. During these sessions you will hear key information about our values, expectations, curriculum, phases of learning, behaviour for learning system, attendance and using My Child at School. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions about any aspect of school life. This part of the session has been really helpful in the past as we’ve been able to use your feedback to inform our decisions. They will be held at 6p.m. on Monday 14th September for Years 8 and 9, Tuesday 15th for Years 10 and 11 and Wednesday 16th for Year 7.
